![]() I can't also help but feel it's a high-maintenance weapon, constantly needing to apply (and buy) different oils and whetstones to keep it in top form, not to mention needing to create several SnS's for different elemental types and statuses. Its range is quite lacking (tail-cutting can be quite a pain), and its block is one of the worst in the game (still better than nothing though). Striker is great, but I find almost all of the other styles lacking (or rather, not my cup of tea) so I only end up using one style with it. I find myself doing the same combos over and over again (XXAAA) when openings arise, and I can't help but feel like I'm ankle-biting the monster to death (rather than fighting it head-on). KO, Exhaust, tail-cutting, going right into blocking, using items with it unsheathed.the SnS feels like it can do it all.Ĭons - however, it's not very satisfying to use. Striker style is phenomenal with SnS, and the Oils offer even more versatility on an already versatile weapon. Mounting opportunities abound even without Aerial style, and it has awesome hunting arts. As a MH veteran, it feels very familiar and inviting - it's very comforting and easy to use, and dodging out of attacks feels effortless. I'll offer my thoughts on the two weapon types below to show my current thoughts on them. I'm hoping someone can offer me some perspective or insight that can help me make my final decision. However, even after playing numerous quests with them and tinkering with various styles I'm still wracking my brain trying to decide between them. I love the idea of a sword/shield, so I'm now trying to decide between the SnS and Charge Blade. I love the Lance and Hunting Horn far too much to give them up, so now I'm trying to decide on what my last weapon type should be. I feel like 3 weapons will give me the right amount of focus and variety while also decreasing the grind significantly (for weapon materials & materials for armor sets for weapons). In more recent MH entries, I've been cutting down how many weapons I focus on, and with MHGen I'm trying to bring that number down to 3 (down from 7 in MH4U). Back then I had all the time in the world to create numerous armor sets and use all the weapon types (I was never one to 'main' one kind of weapon), but since then life has gotten busy and I've been trying to make the most of my free time. ![]() ![]() So I've been playing Monster Hunter since the first entry on the PS2. The first two are Lance and Hunting Horn I'm not sure if my last one should be SnS or CB. Tl dr: I've chosen to focus on 3 weapons for MHGen.
